believe it or not, this comic was REALLY difficult for me. this was the first time that I had not worked in a labored, meticulously planned way and was actually really taxing because of it. but it was a good freeing up exercise. it wasn't totally spontaneous -- I did some penciling (I don't on these kind of strips anymore).
so anyway, this strip is pretty jankety, pretty stupid, but kinda fun I think.

DESTROYED in Philadelphia

Link Lamb: germination of a new character.

two rejected logos for The Grief Project, a multi-media oral history project about people who have lost a spouse or life partner.

colored by Kazimir Iskander
this drawing filled 3 requests: a Hawkman drawing for my friend Steven, a Namor drawing for my friend Abby, and an imagined ballroom dance scene for my Figure in Perspective (figure drawing for cartoonists) class.
my teacher, Terry Beatty, who DOES work for DC had a sole comment during grading: "an interesting Marvel/DC crossover!" so I added that to the inked version. I think it adds to the sensationalistic gay romance novel feel, which I like.
thanks to Kaz for the color!

GHAAANAAAA
this was drawn by this kid, Joe:

Papa is his name. they asked to be drawn... I think Joe looks like a religious icon here. Ghanaians pose for things really stiffly! it's kind of funny. they're all kids who hung around the compound all the time.
'efo' is an Ewe term of respect literally meaning "a man who is older than me," but it can be applied to one younger than you. (you can add "efo vi" to a younger one's name if you like, "vi" meaning "little.") in the Ewe culture, you never really address anyone using just their name; you always attach a descriptive term of respect before it. the female counterpart to "efo" is "daavi" (pronounced "da-avi"), which connotes youthfulness.
this was drawn in my sketchbook by this kid, Dali:

that's our compound in the background. we lived at the CCS homebase.
Weekly! took a hiatus -- right after it started -- during my trip to G-na, hence the time gap.
